  • This module addresses the basic principles of the Mediterranean diet, starting from the structure and composition of the food pyramid and the healthy plate.

  • The various types of carbohydrates, proteins and fats are illustrated, proposing a list of various food choices, and the general quantities of the different nutrients to be taken for the healthy population, according to the recommendations of the LARN (Reference Intake Levels of Nutrients and Energy).

  • You will learn the importance of vitamins and minerals (with a nod to supplements) and the recommended hydration for a sedentary or active person.

  • You will learn that the food plan must be specific for each individual and adapted according to the ascertained pathologies and physiological state (developmental age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, elderly).

  • Advice and suggestions will be provided for those who practice sports and some practical examples of menus.
