What constitutes the content of an email?

Email header

The e-mail header, which usually consists of at least 4 fields, speaks volumes about the relevance of the message content:

  • message sender,
  • the recipient of the message,
  • subject of the message (brief description of the content of the e-mail),
  • date.

Other common parts of the header include a copy (CC abbreviation from the English language Carbon Copy – a term for punched paper) to identify additional recipients to whom the message is not primarily intended, but you still want to inform them, and a blind copy (BC abbreviation from the English language Blind Copy) to specify additional recipients who will remain hidden from the recipient of the message.

The body of the email

In addition to the e-mail header, there is also a body, which contains the full text of the message. With the daily flood of e-mails in mind, there are certain reporting habits that make working with e-mails easier and faster. In general, it is recommended to formulate messages factually and concisely, to highlight and structure information in an appropriate way, to use links to external websites with care and to work carefully with copy and blind copy (always think for whom the message is really important).
