The phenomenon of social networks
Social networks have become for us one of the main sources of entertainment, a means of self-realization, a tool for communication as well as for establishing and maintaining relationships, a helper in studying and building a career.
We can divide social networks into personal and professional. We include, for example, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc. as personal.
Among the professional ones, for example, LinkedIn or Xing. According to estimates, there are approximately 200 community-oriented websites that are used by a large part of the global population.
The first social network appeared already in 1997. At that time, the Sixdegrees.com project offered the possibility to create a profile and connect with friends. Although the service ended its operation in 2001, it was these features that defined the basis that social networks still have in common today.
